Custom Products

Customizing products for you is an important part of our business. 

    Our factory is a "job shop" which means it manufactures products only when customers place an order. We do not make large amounts of products to hold in inventory hoping that a particular customer will place an order some day. Except, for Amer-Sea

brand which we call the "factory brand". We try to keep some of everything in stock for fast delivery to our dealers.

    Notice the difference of a "job shop" verses the national brand distributors (self-described as "manufacturers"). They place large orders at an OEM factory (like ours) and they have the inventory until it is sold. When sold, the "national brand" that order from offshore manufacturers have to wait extended periods to get the next shipment. So that is why the dive store occasionally has to wait and wait months for your back-orders. If our factory makes your items, you may have to wait  2 to 4 weeks depending on the number of orders in production. 

All new designs and "customizing" begins with your ideas or needs. You are the boss and they are your designs. We have the ability to assist you in designing or you can present us with your completed design and we'll take it from there.

Why customize? Here are some of the basic reasons:

Specialty BCs, lift bags, and gear bags.

Totally new BC design for your brand of products.

Physical needs of the diver may require special design changes.

Add your store or organization logo patch to our BCs and bags.

Call us to discuss your idea .

Send us your sketch or finished technical drawing, or meet with us to discuss a concept. We can take your sketch or ideas and convert them into CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings so any welding dies will be exactly what you want.

Custom BCs take a little longer to make but they are worth it!!

Below is an example of making a BC for a new diver.

The local dive shop, Sunny Seas in New Port Richey, FL. had to come up with a special BC for a new diver that could not wear a standard BC. So they called us with basic changes which we discussed. We prepared a drawing which was quickly approved.  Next it had to be scheduled into our flow of production. Then special handling was required through the entire manufacturing process because several different departments in the factory are involved in making a BC. So, it took about 3 weeks from approval of the sketch until it come out of the factory.  Just in time for her to practice before herwater dive. Some things are simply worth the extra several  of weeks.
