• BCDs are made with a variety of fabrics such as DuPont Cordura > Ballistic weight in black,  the most popular 1,000 denier in various colors, and the standard 420 denier weight.  

• YKK zippers  - the primary closure used in gear bags.

• DuPont Nylon coated with several coats of polyurethane for bladderless BC's.

• 15 mil thick polyurethane for the bladders in the back inflated BCD - a thicker, stronger material than some other SCUBA brands.

• Goodyear BCD hoses manufactured to Dura Bag, specifications.

• Dura Bags, custom-designed hardware components on our BCD's and sold to other BCD manufacturers as well.

• Radio Frequency (RF) Welds made from proprietary copper welding dies producing consistent, high quality BCD sizes in each BCD design. RF welding is used extensively in production of other items such as lift bags and snorkel vests.

Dura Bags, products (private label BCDs and gear bags) are advertised and sold under a variety of brand names in the USA, Germany, Africa, England, Greece, Turkey, South & Central America. Dura Bags, is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of dive gear for national and regional SCUBA brands:  OEM for Amer-Sea gear sold direct to dive stores through its  distribution company (Hughco Sales Company): OEM for the offshore drilling industry; OEM to other companies for specialty products in other industries. SCUBA is the primary focus of the factory. Dura Bags, was originally known for its high quality, very durable gear bags, even though it has been making buoyancy control devices (BCD's) since 1982.  Due to agreements with customers, disclosure of brand names maade by Dura Bags, is prohibited. Except, of course, for the distributor's brand Amer-Sea products.  The company was founded in 1979 by Dennis and Linda Foster. The corporate offices and factory are located in Homosassa, FL.		Hughco SCUBA was established to respond quickly to the independent SCUBA Dealer by having product available for shipment within one to two business days.  Amer-Sea was chosen as the new trademark in 2000 because of the confusion of customers and prospective customers thinking "Dura Bags" just made bags. In fact, the BC business is significant so a more general name was selected.  All items are made using the same components, material, and workmanship as the private label products. So, the items sold by HughCo are the same quality as the nationally advertised versions also made by Dura Bags, Prior to 1998, stores often had to wait until the next production run before receiving their items - possibly a month or more. Now, HughCo strives to have all items in inventory ready to ship to your store within 2 business days.  For the last 3 years, Hughco has shipped 90% of its orders on the same day, 95% within 24 hours and 98% in 2 business days. Custom items and "surprise back orders" require more  time before shipping. In addition to Dura Bags’ products, HughCo sells other products obtained direct from other OEM manufacturers.  These manufacturers also make SCUBA gear for their own label and other SCUBA brands. Hughco may sell these items "blank" or with the AMER-SEA brand logo.
